My shoulder has been hurting on and off for nearly 6 1/2 years. why is it doing this?

When I was in 1st grade, I did something to my shoulder and it started to hurt. I didn't tell my mom about it until 3rd grade when it never stopped hurting. Once I was in 4th and 5th grade, it would hurt on and off but I payed no attention to it. Now I'm in 7th grade (going into 8th soon) and my shoulder is hurting more than it ever has before. I told my mom and she said "it's just a growing pain" but I think I messed up my shoulder. It hurts even more when I take deep breaths. It was painful for me to sleep last night because I have to have it at a certain position in order for it to not hurt but I sleep on my left side and I couldn't be in the comfortable position. Why is my shoulder doing this? What can I do to make it stop hurting? don't say "go get it checked out" because my mom isn't going to get it checked out. she takes x-rays so no.
I tore my rotator cuff in my shoulder. It cost me a $40 co-pay to have a shoulder specialist exam me and confirm the problem. I had an MRI done after X-rays. I had a 4 hour surgery performed and after rehab all is well.
This is not a question that can be answered online. See a doctor so they can take an x-ray.
You really need to see your doctor. He may refer you to therapy or send you to an orthopedic clinic. Your shoulder is really something you want to get fixed or it will hinder your movements for the rest of your life. You don't want your arm movements limited in any way. And not sleeping because you're in pain is not healthy either. Tell your mom you need to see the doctor!
tried doing some stretches and shoulder rotationsmaybe try some muscle rub to help your muscles relax, they may be extra tenseice or heat might also helpkeep at your mom if it keeps really hurting you - it probably is something that only a check up will find or be able to help with since it has lasted so long
Go to the school nurse, she might have some suggestions on relieving the pain or, if she thinks you need to see a doctor, she could talk to your mom. Your mom might take it more seriously if the nurse does.
There's no other way other than getting it checked out. No one here can help except a doctor.
