According to documented data: 84% of abuse is committed by the biological parent. 55% by mom 45% dad (over all age brackets) BUT, over 90% of that abuse^ done to children under 1 year of age is committed by the biological MOTHER, and over 80% of the abuse to children under 5 years of age. As the child gets older the % of abuse from dad increases significantly. One of the biggest reasons this shameful cycle still repeats itself is because of the ignorant loyalty to the sexist ideal of "Motherly instinct" rather than acceptance of fact and attempt to change the fairy-tale paradigm. This is a topic near to my heart, after seeing so many children placed back into a dangerous home, because of "Motherly love" and "Mothers rights." Please do some research; You'll be shocked at what's NOT being said.

Mothers are meant to be caretakers and they nurture people, this is why motherhood is a natural instinct. However, fatherhood is not a natural instinct. Most men only learn and adapt to being fathers.

Yes, maternal instincts don't discriminate...although as with any 'instinct' it comes at varying levels of intensity.

It is natural, and specific to each species...

"Mother" "Father" is a term. Many many "fathers" and " mothers" are nonexistent in Childrens lives and don't show any traces of instinct. Being a " Dad" "mom" is instinctual, it isn't necessarily the biological connection. Natural fathers ( and mothers) don't always have that bond.

If a person was never properly parented they may not have the tools to be parents. They can learn them. Some people never want children and don't feel the yearning to reproduce. Some people shouldn't be parents and are.
