Feed the fish once a day. Put in as much food as they can eat in 30 seconds without having left overs.

You are only supposed to feed your fish once per day so as not to overfeed them thus end up wasting the food. As much as feeding is a concern, fish are supposed to have a clean flow of water as they also require oxygen.

Not only should you feed your fish once a day, and only what they can consume in 30-60 seconds, you should use your net to skim away anything they don't eat. That residue can actually pollute the water if it's not cleared away.
