Can dogs get asthma?

I'm a smoker and I just got a puppy so I was just wondering.

Well,they sure can,as we discovered with our dauschunds,some dogs get it if their backs are longer than their legs.If a dog is having an asthma attack,they will make wretching noises.The best way to relieve their attack on a semi-immediate basis is to elevate their back legs and hold them for a few minutes,which causes the noises to stop,and the dogs' breathing to return to normal.

My baby has asthma pretty badly. She takes medicine daily for it.

I think so but it is rare. You may be more likely to encounter allergies. When you take your pup in for its shots talk to your vet about the dangers. One thing you must do is make sure your pup can NOT get to your cigarettes. Puppies are notorious for chewing up things they are not suppose to and a pack of cigarettes can kill a puppy. Congrats on your new furbaby!
